Anderson Real Estate, Inc.  Mark will discuss Rookwood Exchange, the final and newest phase of the overall Rookwood development.  On the drawing board for nearly a decade due to land acquisition efforts and legal hurdles, ground was broken in April 2012 on the first phase of the $100 million mixed use project. Phase I includes a 123-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel, two (2) 9,500 SF upscale restaurants, 96,000 SF of retail/entertainment and infrastructure for a 230,000 SF office building and 750 car parking structure. Mark currently manages anchor tenant leasing, site selection and tenant negotiations. Mark has headed the successful leasing of Lifestyle Centers in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Florida. Current Mixed-use projects underway include sites in Ohio and Minnesota. Prior to joining Anderson Real Estate, Mark majored in General Studies at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. and graduated in 1988. He enjoyed a successful career working as a Leasing Executive for nearly a decade with Pyramid Companies, the largest mall developer in New York State. In 1996, he left his native Syracuse, New York to join Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate, Inc. seizing the opportunity to join a fast-growing visionary company. Mark continues to play a vital role in the Company’s retail development activities, and has personally been involved in over 900 retail lease transactions. He currently resides in the Hyde Park area with his wife and has three children.

Topic 1 -  James Ludwig of the American Cancer Society will discuss the upcoming Relay for Life event in Norwood. The event involves teams of 8-10 walkers/runners who set up camp and and around a walking track and take turns as at least one team member remains on the track all night. The money raised from the event benefit the residents of Norwood.

Topic 2 – Rob Amodio, Superintendent of Norwood City Schools, will update us on the schools over the past year including the achievements of the students, staff and after school and community outreach programs.

Our speakers will be Charlie Pond, Director of Building Development for Neyer Properties, and  Morgan Blavatt of SRW Environmental Services.  They will discuss projects including the former Norco Property, the former American Laundry and another future project located on Section Avenue.  They will cover the use of grant funds to assess local sites and complete demolition and environmental cleanup where necessary. To date the team has successfully applied for and been awarded two Clean Ohio Assistance Fund applications along with one Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund application, which have allowed for detailed environmental analyses on both sites as well as the environmental cleanup of the old Norwood Sash and Door property, which is now Central Pointe’s phase I.  The team’s submittal of the larger southern portion of the American Laundry site, which was associated with previous environmental lawsuits, is currently a leader in the 2011 Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund application round, and they hope to receive notification of their success in this approximately $2 million win toward Norwood’s revitalization this fall.
